Basic Remote Extremely Delayed
I have a windows laptop and an android smart phone.... When I first purchased Unified Remote, it worked extremely well and I loved the program, used it all the time. Very randomly the app stopped working and no remote (on my phone) could connect to the server (my laptop).
I did a bit a research and came up with some answers, the one that worked was allowing a certain port through my router or firewall. This solved the problem but the remote became extremely delayed. As in on my phone when I move the mouse, it takes a good two seconds before the mouse on the laptop actually moves. Is there a few things I can try in order to solve this problem... I have already tried, completely uninstalling both the server on my computer and the remote on my phone and seeing if that solved it, which it didn't.
Thank you for your time,
When it stopped working did you change anything in your network like a new router or something similar? Please try to do a ping test and see how long the ping times are between your phone and computer. See this guide for info https://www.unifiedremote.com/tutorials/how-to-perform-a-ping-test
Thank you for getting back to me! No I have not changed anything in my network, the router and everything is the same as it has always been.
I have preformed a ping test and the results were -
Connection timeout sequence 1, no answer
Connection timeout sequence 2, no answer
Connection timeout sequence 3, no answer
3 transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 11086ms
I presume this means that my phone is not able to communicated with my laptop?! I did however go back onto the unified remote app straight after doing this test and the results are the same, on the remote, when I do an action on my phone (simply move the mouse) it takes a good 1 or 2 seconds to respond.
I presume, the issue may be the communication between my phone and the laptop... Is there anything you can suggest which may solve the issue.
Thank you again for your time!
Yeah something is strange with the communication. Is your computer connected to a wifi network or an ethernet network?
I am connected by WIFI, I have not changed anything at all regarding my laptop, phone or internet (including router) when the remote on my phone decided it could no longer connect to my computer. After some digging, I found that I could allow a port in on my router of firewall (can't remember which one) and this allowed connection again but with a lot of lag.
Is there anything I am able to try or is recommended in order to get unified remote back to normal?
Thank you again,
