Using hardware buttons on phone for remote
Dev Sibwarra 00
iam programming a custom remote to control my presentation done with reveal.js. It would be nice if i could use the volume buttons of the phone to get to the next or previous slide. Is it possible to use these buttons somehow in a custom remote?
Does reveal.js support keyboard shortcuts?
If so, you can try creating a custom keyboard remote that uses the volume buttons to control the slides: https://www.unifiedremote.com/tutorials/how-to-create-a-custom-keyboard-shortcuts-remote
I have a similar question, and I think the answer "lpm" gave here is not what we hoped-for. I believe we want to know how to get the hardware volume buttons to generate events, not what to do once we've caught those events.
Hardware volume buttons are a much-touted feature of Unified Remote for Android, but I see no specific documentation on it. Is there something like an "action.hardware_volume_up" event that is generated, that we can use to perform custom actions?
If a different program needs keys other than left/right, a custom remote can be created.
The documentation for the onvolumeup /onvolumedown is here.
OMG, thanks so much! I never imagined that this functionality would be implemented the "layout.xml" file, so I was only looking at functions for "remote.lua".
Yeah it's sneaky alright.
