Retropie with Kodi
Having some trouble getting UR running on a retropie build. It's basically Raspbian lite so there is no desktop. My first problem is getting it to startup in the retropie interface and then being able to switch to Kodi and still use UR. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this to work?
I'm also a little confused on how to get it to auto-start without a desktop.
Thanks in advance.
You can autostart UR by putting a file like this..... you will have to change the path and file names...... in the /home/pi/.config/autostart folder (which you might need to create).
You could autostart Kodi too....... and then use the UR Kodi remote.
I imagine the "Desktop" bits would be redundant.
[Desktop Entry] Encoding=UTF-8 Type=Application Path=/home/pi/Desktop/urserver-184.108.40.2064 Name=Unified Remote Name[en_GB]=Unified Remote Icon=/home/pi/Desktop/urserver-220.127.116.114/icon.png Exec=lxterminal --working-directory='/home/pi//Desktop/urserver-18.104.22.1684' -t 'urserver terminal' --command='sudo ./urserver' Comment[en_GB]=start up Remote Server DP179 Terminal=false StartupNotify=true
Tried the autostart folder and no luck. I have been following this guide...
The guide installs UR fine, but when I start UR, the app crashes as soon as I connect to it. I can't keep it running after I connect to it. I know retropie only installs Rasbian Lite, so there is no desktop. I'm not sure if that anything to do with it, but it might be worth mentioning.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Debain is not in my wheel house.
It seems that you will need an x-server running........ http://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/29239/i-want-to-run-a-tkinter-script-on-startup-without-desktop so you might have to install the lightest one that you can find.
I find it useful, even running headless, as using X11VNC (autostarted as well.... see below) I can access desktop 0 through TightVnc and see what is going on.........
In[Desktop Entry] Encoding=UTF-8 Type=Application Name=X11VNC Comment= Exec=x11vnc -forever -usepw -display :0 -ultrafilexfer StartupNotify=false Terminal=false Hidden=false
