Nathan, thank you so much, this works so well. Media part is working fine, it doesn't need to have my player up top. Airfoil does need to be up top but when it is, it switches between the speakers without a problem when it is.

    Great stuff!

ctrl +1: defaults to laptop speakers
ctrl +2: streams to bedroom speakers
ctrl +3: streams to living room speakers

They are just basic toggle on/off commands, I could stream to all three at the same time if I really wanted to annoy my neighbours. If you could intergrate it with a basic media remote with a play/pause, next/previous track and up/down volume (airfoil is link to system volume) then that would be great.

Would Airfoil have to be on top for it to work? Reason I ask is I've been using the Groove remote and I've noticed I usually have to press the button twice, once to bring Groove to the front, second to do the command.

    Hey Nathan,

I've just spotted on Airfoil that there's some keyboard shortcuts for changing speakers. I.e ctrl +1 for computer, ctrl +2 for one set, ctrl +3 for another etc. Would that help in anyway for a custom remote?

    Many thanks,

    Heidi

Looks like the Android app (Speakers) doesn't support remotely switching speakers, it's purely a receiver. Oh well, I'm sure the developers will release Satellite for Android at some point.

    Hi Nathan,

Thanks again for the reply... I've done a little checking and it looks like the developers have an app called Airfoil Satellite which allows for switching between speakers from your phone. Unfortunately it's only on iOS at the moment and I'm on Android. However they do have something called Airfoil Speakers which allows you to use your phone as another set of speakers. I've installed it in the hopes it will automatically upgrade to Satellite when it's released on Android.

    Many thanks,

    Dee

    Hi there,

I use some software to stream music to Airplay speakers called Airfoil. Currently to switch between speakers I have to mirror the screen, open up the program and press the speakers I want to switch to. It's a rather slow and clunky process and I was wondering if there was an easier way to do this? I'm not a coder so I won't be able to create a custom remote myself.

    Many thanks,

    Dee
