Basic VLC Remote not working
Most of the buttons in the basic VLC remote don't work. Play/stop is OK, mute and full screen are OK, but forward/back and jump buttons do nothing. Also the volume up/down sometimes adjust the system vol, but never adjust the VLC player volume.
Is there any requirement on VLC version, or any settings I need in VLC.
I'm running this on Linux Mint 17.3 and the remote on Android.
I'm running the free version, would purchase the full version if this worked OK.
Has this been done? I know its says for the Advanced remote, but it may help anyway.
I am using Windows, I've never seen those problems.
Thanks for the suggestion. Have tried but it doesn't help. However those instructions were for the Advanced VLC remote, but I'm on the free version so only have the basic remote, so they may not be appropriate anyway.
Any other ideas?
Just following up the same problem, VLC basic volume control used to work, now it has stopped suddenly, mute still works with my setup with latest unified server and controller on android.
Does anybody know if in paid version volume control works ?
Or any suggestions to try on basic control ? it says though on basic you can control volume up/down..
I've just started using the App yesterday and had the same problem. After a bit of playing about I found that stopping a track playing with the PC and hitting play with the App worked for me. The trick is not to touch the app until you have stopped the track from playing, if you do the app would open a second copy of VLC and even if you close the first copy, the remote loses most of the controls (only play/pause would work) but If I start up VLC, drag a playlist into it, click it and then immediately stop the first track that just started playing, the VLC remote works fine.
Are you on Linux as well as OP? I can't replicate this on Win64..
I've been using unified remote for ages and thsi has just started happening for me too. I press jump foward 10 second and the system volume goes up. Have re-installed android app but didn't help
Are you on Windows? If so, take a look at
C:\ProgramData\Unified Remote\Remotes\Bundled\Unified\Main\VLC\remote_win.luain a text editor. Look for something similar to code below. Note, I think I changed mine at some stage, so your
kb.strokemay have a different value:
[email protected] Jump back 10 seconds actions.jump_back = function () actions.switch(); kb.stroke("left"); end
Can you confirm that its exactly as shown here?
Thanks for reply. I have the following which is not exactly the same:-
[email protected] Jump back 10 seconds
actions.jump_back = function ()
Should I change it to your version?
Edit. I have alt-left mapped to volume down so this looking like the problem
Edit 2. I removed the "alt" and now everything works. Thanks very much for your help.
I like left/right for jump back forward & up/down for volume, because if I happen to be walking past my keyboard, away from my Unified device, I can just reach down & tap them really easily without needing a modifier key in there as well.
