Keystrokes Not Registering
I've created a simple Unified Remote to control my OBS streaming server. It has four functions, two of which launch applications (which are working), one that's supposed to send CTRL-ALT-S to toggle the stream and another which is supposed to send CTRL-F3 to manually trigger Boom Replay.
The problem is, no keypresses are registering. I've tried kb.stroke, kb.press and kb.text and no matter what I set them to, when I press the button on the remote, no keystrokes are sent through to the PC. This is a new system and UR was installed yesterday. I used to use this on another PC before and it worked fine but I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. System is running Windows 10 Pro.
Anyone know why this might be? Thanks all.
If it works on another PC and not with Widows10 then it might be because Microsoft recently broke (on purpose) "SendKeys" in Widows10. Others are having this problem with other software that sends keystrokes..... but like you.... only recently and only with Widows10.
Google will soon be plastered with similar complaints and hopefully some solutions.
It will not help you, but there is a discussion here https://www.tenforums.com/software-apps/49635-sendkeys-not-working-windows-10-a-3.html?s=c1a4d5973e77479c647b5fa91690bda5
I purchased a bunch of windows7 licences a few years ago. Using Windows for live performance I could not entertain an OS that changes from day to day!
@whale-av So, according to that post, people are saying the functionality gets blocked by UAC. I have UAC disabled on this system though.
It seems SendKeys is totally "gone" for widows10....... https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1560398-adding-the-enter-command-in-batch-file-without-using-the-sendkeys-command
Of course UR might not have been using it....... but probably was.
I will have a look at Lua....... and try to work out if that is the problem.
Does the UR built in keyboard work?
If it does then that would suggest another problem.
If not, then as in the link in the last post, it could be a problem of different levels of permissions.
I was using Unified Remote in a different context previously on Windows 10. So either the Fall Creator's update stripped them out or UR isn't using that library. Given there aren't any other threads complaining about broken keys, I'd be surprised. :)
I will try the other keyboards and see what happens. I also submitted a formal support request but I don't know how quick the devs are to respond. I'll let you know how the other keyboards work out.
